Something in my eye made the print red
Reading about an extendable body
Because space provides outlines
And time does tend to repeat itself
The outline of my body
Is infinitely extendable
And as I extend do I multiply
Into numerous personalities
I haven’t as yet met?
Would they confront me in a mirror
Claiming that I am a fake
That only they are authentic?
Perhaps then
It wasn’t something in my eye
That made the print red
Reading about an extendable body
It was probably one of those bodies
That I multiplied into
Without even being aware
Of this phenomenal capacity
A body with impaired vision
That made the print red
Life is just too complicated
Having so many bodies how do I know
What one or another is doing?
Nevertheless I like the idea
Of an extendable body multiplying indefinitely
Even if merely imaginary
Isn’t imagination only a deferred reality?
As someone once said
In anticipation a cup smiles at my hand
Because I touch it so gently
Probably because I have another body
That touches things like that
